What to look for when hiring a DJ

Aside from the legal stuff, licenses and insurance, you need only apply
common sense.

  • Are they going to be there as agreed?
  • Is their equipment up to date, reliable and does it look nice?
  • Do they carry backup equipment with them?
  • Do you like them?
  • Do you feel like you will be able to work closely with them?
  • Do you gain a level of trust in them?
  • Who are their references?  The best references you can ask for are
    Banquet Managers, Event Coordinators or Hall Managers.  They
    have seen the full spectrum of vendors.  
  • Do they live and work in your area and is their office located in your
    area?  This is important.  You owe it to yourself to ask.
